Spring into Summer 2012

We have much to be grateful for thus far in 2012. First, we are happy to announce that two new members, Sue Scheer and Wilford W. Scott, have joined our advisory board.

Sue Scheer is known most to you as an enthusiastic and open-minded art student unafraid to tackle any problem. She is also an ardent supporter and an active voice in our community in the crusade to preserve our vanishing rural landscape that makes our area the beautiful place it is to live and work.

Wilford W. Scott has served for many years as the Head of Adult Educational Programs in the Educational Division of the National Gallery of Art in Washington. He is impressed by the mission of our school and the overall quality and high standards of our offerings.

Next, the School is very grateful to the Berkley Gallery and Tom Sentz for all of their support

We also thank our guest artist lecturer, Maggie Siner, for the generous gift of a new professional quality etching press. This gift will make it possible for us to offer a printmaking program in etching and engraving in the very near future.

We do our utmost to ensure that the school offers all education in all subjects essential to a well-rounded education in the Arts, including architecture and sculpture. The topics covered by our roster of guest lecturers and workshops are intended to fill the spaces not included in our regular course offerings. We are fortunate these subjects can be addressed by our distinguished visiting lecturers, for at present, our studio space is limited.

Our next lecture will be on Friday, May 4th and will feature Aneta Georgievska-Shine, a professor at the University of Maryland and guest lecturer at the Smithsonian Institution. Her fascinating lecture is entitled "The Self Portrait: A Very Brief History of Facts and Fictions". We are grateful for her expertise and urge all of you to attend.

We're excited about the school's upcoming events and look forward to you joining us in the months ahead.
